Tulum and the ‘Mayan Riviera’ have a completely different feel to other places we’ve been in Mexico. The sugar white beaches are beautiful and it’s easy to see what attracts the thousands of tourists from Europe and USA, which give the place an international resort-ish feel. In fact, foreign tourists would easily outnumber domestic ones – probaby due to the costs which are far above other places in Mexico and are more akin to holidaying in Europe or USA.
For us, it’s been an excellent week of relaxing with Mima and Opa while swimming at beaches, cenotes and lagoons, as well as enjoying some excellent meals.
The challenge for us will be adjusting back to a two star downgrade in food and accommodation as we press on into Central America tomorrow.
Most photo credits go to Joerg who was our designated photographer for the week.
The frisby is our new travel essential. It doubles as a plate and is also useful for swatting mosquitos.

Joerg mastered the art of photographing cenotes from the inside by swimming with one hand, while holding the camera with the other. Impressive.
